 WELCOME

Our conference logo hints at the theme for our 2006 conference. The aim of which is to focus on shifting our international finance teams performance from not just being ‘Good’ but to being ‘Great.’

Some of the key focus areas that will form the basis to our meeting and that will enable us to communicate our message to you and in turn achieve this shift from Good to Great are as follows;

Growth * Development * Leveraging / Optimizing * Benchmarking * Technology * Manpower

The meeting will provide an invaluable opportunity for you to hear key corporate and regional speakers show and speak about our strategic vision and also provide the chance for you to interact with your colleagues to understand their best practices. There will be the opportunity to learn from our speakers about the growth, development and future direction of Marriott as well as be updated on the key business functions affecting our finance leaders.

Experience Zones will provide a creative format for you to receive and absorb key messages in line with our theme. These zones will cover areas such as Opera, PeopleSoft, LMS and external benchmarking. In addition there will be training sessions and breakouts on 4sight, OFB and revenue management amongst many others. Opportunities for smaller group specific discussions by area will also be included.

Cairo has a wealth of sights to see, and as with our previous conferences, there will be organised evening dinners/events that will incorporate some of these many activities. We hope that you will also have the time to explore for yourself the many attractions that Cairo has to offer as well as experience the wonderful facilities at the JW Cairo hotel.

This website will provide lots of information relating to the meeting from practical advice and hotel booking arrangements to information about the agenda and speakers. The site will be updated regularly as the meeting arrangements take shape. We therefore encourage you to keep visiting the site prior to July to keep up to date with the meeting programme.

We are sure you are excited as we are to not only be joining the meeting but also to be putting faces to familiar names and meeting colleagues both old and new.

Finally, we look forward to welcoming you in Cairo to join us on the journey that will take us all from
Good to Great.

“The vast majority of companies never become great, precisely because the vast majority become quite good – and that is their main problem” (“Good to Great”, Jim Collins, 2001)
